GABM dates announced

Second Global Arab Business Meeting to be held in RAK

Online news Sunday Sept 11

The second edition of the Global Arab Business Meeting (GABM) will run from October 9 – 10 at the Al Hamra Convention Centre in Ras Al Khaimah, according to a statement made by co-hosts RAKIA, over the weekend.

The forum is marketed as “the foremost gathering of top decision makers from the Arab region and the rest of the world, offering an opportunity to meet, explore business prospects and discuss their visions for a sustainable future”.

Investment opportunities in Ras Al Khaimah will also be showcased; a platform added in light of a 27% increase in the number of licences issued in 2010 for consulting and services companies, trading businesses, commercial companies, industrial firms and media businesses.

“The Global Arab Business Meeting is in line with RAKIA’s continuing efforts to identify new ways to drive the economic growth of the region, particularly here in Ras Al Khaimah, by creating dedicated platforms that cultivate interaction and cooperation between Arab and international business leaders,” said RAKIA GM for marketing and promotions, Alex Thomas.

RAKIA will work with the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Economic Development to host the event, while Horasis, an independent international organisation “committed to enacting visions for a sustainable future”, will organise.

UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasim; Mohd Abu-Hammour, Minister of Finance of Jordan; Makhdoom Amin Faheem, Senior Minister of Commerce, Pakistan; and Shri Kamal Nath, Union Cabinet Minister of Urban Development, India are all confirmed to attend.

“The enthusiastic support that the 2nd GABM has gathered from global business and political leaders strongly indicates that the MENA region is fast emerging as a premier business destination,” commented Horasis chairman Dr. Frank-Jurgen Richter.

The 2011 Arab Business Leaders of the Year award will also be announced at GABM.
