Cool Dubai praised by US
Empower lauded by US Consul General
Dubai has been praised by US officials on its quick adoption of district cooling in the Emirate.
The remarks were made by US Consul General Justin H. Siberell during a visit to the office of Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Corporation (Empower).
One of the issues discussed at the meeting was the need for further cooperation between Empower and American companies to share knowledge and boost exports of HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
“Empower has succeeded in building world class district cooling infrastructure that is considered an ideal economic and environmental solution for residential and commercial units, offices and hotels in the UAE,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar.
“People and businesses are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of using district cooling system as an alternative to conventional AC systems, leading to energy saving and environment conservation,” Bin Shafar added.
According to a press release from Empower, the UAE is “considered” to be the biggest importer of American products in the region.
The statement continued: “The Dubai based company tops the list of companies providing district cooling services in the region. It adopts a clear strategy to preserve environment through aggressively disseminating this technology and conducting campaigns to highlight its strategic value in the short and long run to the people and the society in general.”
Bin Shafar also revealed the company’s production capacity crossed 350,000 RT in 2011, serving 17 real estate projects in the UAE.
