Property developer resigns Michael Owen as ambassador

Striker “delighted” to be part of regional expansion

Manchester United striker Michael Owen has signed a new contract to extend his role as ambassador for regional developer The First Group. A

Holding the position since 2005, the 31 year old former England player was an inaugural member of ‘the first team’, when the developer first extended its operations to Dubai in 2005.

That year he launched and invested in ‘The Diamond’ at Dubai Sports City.

“My association with The First Group stretches back many years and I’m delighted to be a part of their expansion in the region,” he commented.

“I am a big fan of Dubai, especially the scale of development which is taking place,” said Owen.

“Visiting recently, it was great to see so many properties, which were just designs and dreams in 2005, now becoming reality.

“Owen regularly visits Dubai and according to the group has been present to witness “many of the more significant construction milestones” reached.

“Michael Owen has been a well-respected and trusted sports celebrity for many years,” said First Group joint chairman Gary Shepherd.

“But more than that, he is an astute businessman who has built a strong portfolio of property around the world. We are delighted Michael has extended his relationship with us and look forward to working on many future projects together,” Shepherd concluded.
