Estidama’s first year feedback forum for developers
Discussions held ahead of construction stage roll out
Abu Dhabi developers have attended a forum hosted by the Emirate’s urban Planning Council (UPC) to evaluate the effectiveness of the Estidama Pearl Rating System (PRS).
The first such forum was held to open a “two-way communication channel” with stakeholders, a year after the sustianbility rating system launched.
“Stakeholder-engaging activities are instrumental tools to help us gain more genuine insights on how development and facilities should be orchestrated to achieve Vision 2030 objectives,” commented UPC director of development review and Estidama, Eng. Nader Al Awlaq.
Developers also heard about the initiatives planned for 2012. Additionally, the development review streamlining process was also explained, to assist in directing developers to the policies that will improve the “overall integration” of Estidama with the surrounding areas.
An implementation booklet has also been jointly produced to explain and support the assigned roles, responsibilities and requirements for both the Abu Dhabi Municipality and the UPC.
“As one our key stakeholders, developers play a pivotal role in the successful implementation of Estidama and will ensure that the UPC continually embraces the rapidly evolving concepts for sustainable urban development while grounding them in the economic, environmental, social and cultural needs of our Emirate” Al Awlaq added, further saying Estidama is gaining “strong momentum”, as more developers commit to its “disciplinary approach”.
