US-Qatar ambassador visits Msheireb

Her Excellency Susan L. Ziadeh travels to US$5.5 billion sustainable regeneration project

Her Excellency Susan L. Ziadeh, the US Ambassador to Qatar, visited the floating Msheireb Enrichment Centre, on Doha’s West Bay waterfront, for a briefing on the US $5.5 billion sustainable regeneration project.

Greeted by Msheireb Properties CEO, Eng. Issa M. Al Mohannadi, Ambassador Ziadeh heard about the project’s contribution to urban development, and also viewed a model of the project site.

Previously, the Enrichment  Centre has been visited by the UK’s Prince Andrew on a trip designed to strengthen business relations with the UK.

Last year, global architecture, urban design and planning firm Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum (known as HOK) was appointed as lead consultant on phase four of the project, formerly known as Dohaland.

“Msheireb Downtown is fundamentally rooted in Qatar’s heritage but simultaneously seeks to accentuate modern environmental management and international standards in sustainability through its groundbreaking architectural and design techniques,” said Msheireb Properties CEO Eng. Issa M. Al Mohannadi

The name Msheireb, means ‘a place to drink water’ and is the historical name of the downtown area of Doha
