The masterplan for the Dubai Expo 2020 has been unveiled, giving a glimpse of how the 2 sq km site will look.

The plan was displayed at the two-day Arab Media Forum at the Dubai World Trade Centre, with augmented reality and advanced digital technology used to show how the event site will look.

The Expo pavilions will be dedicated to three sub-themes – “opportunity”, “mobility” and “sustainability” – under the main theme, “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.

Ahmed Al Khateeb, Senior Vice President of Real Estate Development at Expo 2020 Dubai, said that the work is underway as per the schedule on the event site.

Expo 2020 Dubai will take place between 20 October 2020, and 10 April 2021, with approximately 25 million visitors expected.

The site will spread across 2 sq km, revolving around the ‘Al Wasl’ meeting plaza.

“We strive to make Expo 2020 Dubai a comprehensive experience that begins from now until the end of its activities in 2021. Its impact will last long to benefit future generations for decades to come. We intend to organise an exceptional event, which represents a platform for connecting minds from around the world to embody the spirit of joint work that paves the way for a promising future,” said Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Director-General of Expo 2020 Dubai.
