The evening’s programme included a keynote address from Hesham Abdulla AlQassim, the CEO of Wasl Asset Management, one of Dubai’s most prominent real estate developers.

“I would like to congratulate the winners of today’s Big Project Middle East Awards. You are the unacknowledged heroes that have contributed so much towards our region’s impressive growth and development,” he told attendees at the awards.

“What you do is often a thankless task, so today is your day. It is a rightful and worthy occasion for us to say to you a sincere ‘thank you!’”

The awards featured 15 categories covering various areas of construction and sustainability.

Brookfield Multiplex was the big winner of the night, taking home three awards including General Contractor of the Year, while ALEC’s Kez Taylor was named both Construction CEO of the Year and Health and Safety Leader of the Year.

Donna Sultan, chief executive of KEO International Consultants, was presented with the first ever Big Project Middle East Woman of the Year award, to a standing ovation from the room.
