Construction work has begun on an education project in Sharjah.
The Directorate of Public Works (DPW) of Sharjah commenced operations on a new nursery in Mulaiha area of the emirate. The project worth $2.09 million seeks ‘to meet the requirements of new schools and nurseries at all different areas of Sharjah’.
Spread over an area of 2.330 sqm, the new nursery will accommodate 160 children, as per a statement released by local news outlet WAM. “The project is expected to be completed by the first middle of next year,” Engineer Helal Al Sahi, manager of building projects department at DPW said.
“The nursery will be designed considering a special architectural style to attract children, with outdoor open spaces for play, in addition to a library, activities hall, science and IT lab and many other facilities.
“The special requirements of handicapped children are also considered and met including special sloping entrances, especially-equipped restrooms and rubber flooring to ensure children’s safety,” Al Sahi added.
DPW will work with the Road and Transport Authority of Sharjah to facilitate ease of access to the nursery, such as through bus stops and parking spaces within the development ‘to meet traffic safety requirements’, Al Sahi continued.
