Green building key to reducing costs – expert
Modern construction landscape changing as emphasis shifts to green building, expert says
Green building practices that incorporate sustainable, long lifespan products into a building is the key to reducing operational costs, a senior executive of a British interior product manufacturer has said.
Andrew Jackson, a director at SAS International, said that the modern construction landscape was changing as the emphasis shifted towards green building and clients expectations increased. Projects now demand long term value for any product, balanced with environmental credentials, he explained.
“As the triple bottom line becomes ever more important to corporations and individual’s demand for environmentally friendly spaces grows, the pressure on developers and owners in the GCC to build green buildings continues to increase,” Jackson said.
“Modern tenant expectations combined with major government initiatives look sure to change the building landscape from one of temporary inefficiency to the more long-term, sustainable buildings of the future,” he added.
SAS International produces high-performance metal products including metal ceiling systems and architectural metalwork. Jackson said that the metal ceiling systems provide an effective alternative for clients looking to improve their environmental credentials, due to their 30 year lifespan.
“Once installed, metal ceiling products offer an inert and inherently hard wearing surface, making them both hygienic and a low-maintenance option and suspended ceiling solutions provide ease of access for maintenance of integrated building systems with minimal downtime which are all key contributors to a healthy bottom line,” he explained.
