RTA signs MoU with Skyway for Sky Pod ‘suspended mass transport’ network
Deal aligns with Dubai’s Autonomous Transportation Strategy aiming for 25% of total journeys by 2030
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has inked a MoU with Skyway Greentech Company for the development of a Sky Pod network in Dubai. The deal is part of the RTA’s effort to deliver futuristic solutions to beat traffic congestion.
In a statement, the RTA said the technology is characterised by speed and security as well as saving of resources. The deal is said to contribute to the RTA’s vision and strategy of ensuring safe and smooth transport for all.
The MoU is also part of the RTA’s efforts to enhance the integration of public transit means, according to Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Younes, CEO of Rail Agency after signing the deal with Pavel Skoypeda, GM of Skyway Greentech Company.
“We have signed this deal in the context of RTA’s efforts to envision the future and deliver top-notch technology and services at world-class standards. It will pave the way for innovative mass transport and accordingly raise the ridership of public transit means; which in turn will ease the traffic congestion and enrich the lifestyle in the emirate,” remarked Younes.
He pointed out that the RTA move comes from its commitment to realise the National Agenda and increase the use of clean technology in the field of transport to ensure sustainability.
“It encourages citizens and residents of Dubai to use shared and mass transport through the development of sophisticated futuristic transit means, besides improving the sustainable transport network and systems in Dubai,” Younes explained.
