Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) has begun leasing commercial offices in its record breaking Capital Gate.
The 160m tower, which leans 18 degrees, features 15,000 square metres of office space, and will also house Abu Dhabi’s first Hyatt property; a 25,000 square metre Hyatt Capital Gate Hotel.
Officially recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s furthest leaning man-made tower, Capital Gate was designed by RMJM architects.
Construction required more than 15,000m3 of concrete, reinforced with 10,000 tons of steel.
To create the curve, floor plates were stacked vertically to the 12th storey, then staggered between the 12th and 29th storeys by between 800 and 1400mm, in relation to the shell. Floors between the 29th and 35th storeys are stacked between 900 and 300mm, in line with the facade.
Created with 8500 structural steel beams, Capital Gate uses the same technology as London’s “Gherkin” and the Hearst Tower in New York.
“ADNEC is delighted to bring to the Abu Dhabi market the superior Grade A+ commercial space within this iconic building,” said His Excellency Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Managing Director of ADNEC.
“Capital Gate forms the focal point of a world-class business district; we believe the tower holds incredible appeal for local and international businesses seeking a prestige address within an established location in the UAE capital,” he added.
Tenants – who will have a view of the Arabian Gulf, Abu Dhabi Island, The Mangroves, Yas Island and Saadiyat Island – will be offered a shell-and-core contract for spaces ranging from 994 square metres to 1050 square metres.
