British expat killed by falling shipping container in Qatar
Expatriate was crushed after container falls from truck, in the second fatal incident in Doha in a month
A British expat was killed in Qatar on Sunday after a shipping container fell from a truck onto his vehicle, it was reported.
The man was reportedly driving down the Corniche when a truck leaving Doha’s port turned onto the street, and the shipping container it was carrying apparently shifted and fell onto his vehicle, a witness told Doha News.
The expat, said to be a 45-year-old, was reportedly the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Photos taken by residents show a crane being brought onto the scene to lift the container, which was carrying scaffolding materials, the Gulf Times reported.
The incident follows another fatality reported last week, when at least one construction worker was killed and three injured when a crane collapsed on Old Airport Road.
