Tenders for the Adam-Thumrait road dualisation project (part 1 and 2) have been opened at the Tender Board, it has been announced.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications floated both the tenders together in September last year for dualising a large section of the Adam-Thumrait carriageway. The last submission date was March 17 for both tenders, a report in the Muscat Daily.

Fourteen companies, mostly local contracting companies, have submitted technical credentials for the tender of part 1 of the project. Part 2 of the project received technical offers from 11 companies.

Around 22 companies have evidenced an interest when the tenders were opened in September last year.

The project involves conversion to a four-lane dual carriageway from the existing 715km-long single carriageway between the towns of Adam and Thumrait.

The project also include several intermittent grade-separated interchanges, cross-drainage structures, camel crossings, and rest/service areas and weigh stations at intermittent locations.
