Work on the Dubai Truck Market is 92% complete, with finishing works currently being undertaken on the $19.6 million – worth project in Al Ruwayyah area of the city, due for completion by August 2014.

The truck market has been constructed to fully comply with the green building regulations in the emirate. Engineer Abdullah Rafia, assistant director-general of the Municipality said the 421,000sqm-large market will include 88 showrooms for trucks, 66 showrooms for spare parts and a service facility on its premises.

“The Dubai Truck Market will also help with improving the aesthetics of the city by curbing the sale of trucks and spare parts on the roadside,” he added.

The market is being constructed to serve as a single hub that caters to truck-related operations in the emirate, such as the trade of second-hand heavy vehicles; facilitation of new truck and heavy equipment imports; and a centre for vehicle testing, financing services and auctions.
