Al Seeb awards main contract for Chedi Private Residences
With a total built-up area of around 1.25m sqft, the skyscraper will rise about 250m across 53-storeys featuring 117-residences
Al Seeb Real Estate Development has awarded a key contract to Ancient Builders Constructions (ABC) for the construction of The Chedi Private Residences, a US $200mn tower on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. The agreement was signed by Mahesh Kalwani, the Vice Chairman of Al Seeb, and Zeeshan Ali Akhtar, the Managing Director of ABC in Dubai.
With a total built-up area of around 1.25m sqft, the skyscraper will rise about 250m across 53-storeys and will feature 117-residences with a mix of villas, duplexes and mansions, said Al Seeb in a statement.
Homes come with swimming pools and landscaped wellness decks, and run on smart home and building management systems built to international WELL and sustainability standards, it added.
Enabling works are already under way, and the appointment takes the tower into main construction, the firm confirmed.
“We took our time to line up the right team rather than rush into the ground,” said Kalwani. “The Chedi name sets an expectation, and this tower has to meet it on every floor. The contract is signed, the site is live, and now we build to it, he added.”
Al Seeb said piling, shoring and excavation are running now. With ABC appointed, the tower moves into main construction. MBM Gulf Electromechanical is the project’s MEP contractor, and Model Engineering Consultants is the lead engineering consultant and architect of record.
On the contract win, Haidar said, “A branded residence is won or lost in the detail, in the concrete as much as the finishes. Our crews are already on site. We build it to carry the name, or we don’t put our own on it.”
Al Seeb is developing the residences under licence with Chedi Hospitality, which will operate them under The Chedi brand. The 117-unit skyscraper is set for completion in the first quarter of 2029.
