Acciona Cultura delivers Lusail Museum exhibition in Doha
The exhibition will have 237 artefacts on display and will build anticipation for the opening of the new museum
Acciona Cultura has announced the successful delivery of technical development and museographic implementation works for the Lusail Museum: Tales of the Connected World exhibition. The exhibition is being presented to build anticipation for the forthcoming opening of the Lusail Museum, the company stated.
In a statement, Acciona Cultura said that the project, which is located in the heart of Doha, at the Qatar Museums Gallery – Al Riwaq, is being developed for Qatar Museums. It added that the exhibition will excite visitors about the currently under development Lusail Museum, which will showcase Orientalist art, archaeological artefacts, and media from antiquity to the 21st century.
With 237 artefacts on display, the Lusail Exhibition will explore cultural interactions between the greater MENA region and its peripheries – Europe, Central and East Africa, and Central, South and East Asia. These artefacts include a large collection of paintings on canvas, jewellery, tapestries, costumes, film props, books, manuscripts, photographs, decorated ceramics, glass, and metal. They will be combined with almost 60 audio-visual and interactive resources that support the narrative and allow visitors to approach and interact with the objects, the company explained.
In April 2022, Acciona and UCC said they had delivered the world’s largest sport museum in Qatar and, later in the month, Acciona Cultural Engineering announced it was rebranding to Acciona Cultura.
The work carried out by Acciona Cultura covers the six different spaces of the Lusail Exhibition: Uncovering Orientalism; Cleopatra; Desert; the Delacroix’s Gaze; Al-Hamidiyya Souq; and Journeys.
Acciona Cultura pointed out that its scope of work for the project included the technical development, project management, fit-out, graphics, media productions, showcases, lighting, prototyping, and testing, exhibition fabrication, object mounting, maintenance and assembly and dismantling of the exhibition, which occupies a total area of 2,800sqm.
The Lusail Exhibition follows the recent delivery of the Experience Al Jazeera exhibition for Qatar Museums, which celebrates of Al Jazeera’s 25th anniversary. Furthermore, it has also undertaken the museography works, fit out and MEP for the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, the world’s largest museum dedicated to Olympics and sport.
In August 2022, the firm said it completed the exhibition implementation of four pavilions at the Al Shindagha Museum in Dubai.
ACCIONA Cultura has also been responsible for 150 media productions for the National Museum of Qatar; the museum development and implementation of Msheireb Museums, and the production of various temporary exhibitions for Doha’s Museum of Islamic Art and the Orientalist Museum.
In late October 2022, Qatar Tourism announced the imminent opening of over two dozen new tourist facilities ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
