The Kalba Department of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has completed a pumping station and extension of water lines at a cost of AED27 million ($7.35 million) that will feed several development and tourism projects in Kalba.
The lines also feed Al Hafiya Lake, the industrial and commercial zone, and the rest of the Al Ghayl Dam, reported Emirates News Agency WAM.
Moza Al Zaabi, director of the Kalba Department of the SEWA, explained that Kalba city is witnessing an urban and civil renaissance and a state of recovery, supported by a strong infrastructure. SEWA is working to keep pace with this renaissance and provide all electricity and water services for development and tourism projects.
She pointed out that the completed project included the extension of water lines with a diameter of 400 mm and a length of 4 km, to feed Al Hafiya Lake. High-quality carbon steel was used as well as construction of a ground water tank with a capacity of half a million gallons.
In addition, it has installed five pumps in cooperation with one of the major international companies. The capacity of each pump is 660 cubic metres per hour to meet the needs of the future region, she added.
