Fuel loading of Unit 2 at Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant complete says Nawah

Company says it will begin testing Unit 2’s systems which includes Power Ascension Testing

The Nawah Energy Company has announced that it has successfully completed loading the fuel assemblies into the reactor of Unit 2 of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant.
The firm, which is the operations and maintenance subsidiary of Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), said that it will now commence testing Unit 2’s systems, prior to the start-up of the reactor, before gradually raising power levels while conducting a series of tests, in a process called Power Ascension Testing (PAT).
According to Nawah, its diverse team of experts followed strict guidelines and international best practices in loading the fuel assemblies into Unit 2, thus concluding the process one year after successfully completing the same work at Unit 1.
Earlier this month, Nawah said that it had received the operating license from the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR), to operate Unit 2 of the Barakah Plant for a duration of 60 years, following the safe completion of all national inspections.
