L&T unit announces multiple power project wins

Firm has been awarded projects in the Middle East, Philippines and in India

Larsen & Toubro has announced that its Power Transmission and Distribution Business unit has won a key contract to build a 380kV substation in Saudi Arabia, as well as an associated 230kV cable network. The deal also outlines the establishment of two transmission line corridors.

The engineering and construction firm has also secured a new order from a major client in the Middle East for the construction of EHV (extra high voltage) overhead lines.

In addition, the firm has won what’s billed as ‘major orders’ from clients in the Philippines. The company notes it has been tasked with building a 500kV substation, in association with a prominent local player. The project is said to cater to the growing demand for electricity in the metropolitan area of Manila.

Within its domestic market, L&T has been awarded a contract in Gujarat for the construction of a 765kV Double Circuit Transmission Line, which will help transmit power from renewable energy sources. It has also won an order in Uttar Pradesh to build a 20MW floating solar power project at a reservoir of NTPC’s Auraiya Gas Power Plant, the statement said.
