Exclusive: Digital Construction Works committed to being ‘technology agnostic’
JV firm states that people and process are key to digital transformation
Digital Construction Works (DCW) is dedicated to being technology agnostic when working to simplify digital transformation for its customers in the construction industry, the firm’s CEO told Middle East Consultant in an exclusive interview.
The firm is a joint venture (JV) between two vendors, Bentley Systems and Topcon Positioning Group, and was unveiled at Bentley Systems’ Year in Infrastructure Conference. DCW’s solutions are said to span every phase of a project and can create a digital thread that connects technologies and workflows.
Its services are said to automate and optimise construction operations through digital transformation of the asset, lowering full-lifecycle asset costs. Through digital twins, you can visualise the asset, check status, perform analysis, and generate insights to predict and optimise asset performance, the statement said.
Ted Lamboo, CEO of Digital Construction Works said, ““It’s important to say that even though we are financed by two vendors, we are an independent company. Greg Bentley said that we have to be agnostic to technology so, in practice, we’re going to run into situations where clients have Autodesk/Revit, Esri, Leica, Hexagon but whatever they have doesn’t matter to us.”
At the same time Lamboo also emphasized that people and process are key components of digital transformation.
“As a services organisation we have to be capable of bolting things together and bringing them to the next stage. It doesn’t start with technology, it starts with the people and the process,” he remarked.
DCW notes that fast and continuous site surveying using modern technology shortens the digital twinning cycles between the physical and digital twin, and is achieved in combination with automated analytics. The process is said to be applicable for linear infrastructure, vertical construction and extensive off-site modular construction.
