Abu Dhabi City Municipality begins Corniche Road revamp project
Project is expected to be complete in the first week of December 2019
Roadworks and the redevelopment of Abu Dhabi’s Corniche Road are underway according to Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADCM). The $1.91m project will see development works on the central traffic island across the Corniche Road.
According to a report by WAM, the project is divided into two phases: the first is being carried out on the Corniche Road and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street intersection, up to the Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street intersection.
The second phase involves road works on the Corniche Road and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street intersection, up until the Vegetable Market in Zayed City.
According to ADCM, the development works will reduce operations, maintenance, irrigation and water consumption costs. The project is scheduled to be complete during the first week of December 2019, in time for the UAE’s National Day celebrations.
The Abu Dhabi Corniche road is said to be a key destination for residents and tourists. Official celebrations, seasonal events, exhibitions and other activities usually take place in the area.
