Drydocks World to build an HVAC offshore platform topside

The 700 MW HVAC offshore platform topside will be located in the Netherlands sector of the North Sea

Drydocks World, a marine, offshore, oil and gas service provider, has signed a contract with Petrofac and end-client TenneT to construct a high voltage alternating current (HVAC) transformer station topside.

Called, Hollandse Kust Zuid Alpha, the HVAC platform will be part of a renewable energy wind farm, located in the Hollandse Kust Zuid grid connection in Netherlands sector of the North Sea. Petrofac said that the topside will be approximately 3000 t and will have a connection capacity of 700 MW, scheduled for completion in 2021.

Drydocks World’s scope of work includes production engineering, construction, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning assistance, load-out, sea fastening and HVAC engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) commissioning for the topside.
