Reem Mall to house world’s largest snow play park in 2020
Destination is part of a series of leisure and entertainment projects being delivered by Al Farwaniya Property Developers, MAF Ventures and Thinkwell
Al Farwaniya Property Developers, Majid Al Futtaim Ventures and Thinkwell have announced that Abu Dhabi’s Reem Island will soon be home to the world’s largest snow play park, once it opens in late 2020.
Planned as part of a series of leisure and entertainment projects being delivered by the consortium, Snow Abu Dhabi will be the world’s largest destination of its kind and will be based at the $1.2 billion Reem Mall development.
The 120,000sqft destination will feature a total of 13 rides and attractions and will emulate an enchanted world with a ride range of activities spread across several distinct zones, a statement said. In each zone, visitors will find a set of activities hosted by the park’s fantastical characters.
Before entering the park, guests will be invited to visit the Blizzard Bazaar, which has an assortment of retail offerings and quirky outlets, including cold weather clothing, hats, postcards and souvenirs. Upon entry, visitors will find themselves in the Snowflake Garden which is an open play activity area where arriving guests can play in snow. Ice labyrinths, snowman building, and other snow-based games will be available here as well, the statement said.
Amongst the attractions will be the Crystal Carousel, which will feature an ornate customised design that will celebrate the animals of the winter forest. The snow park will culminate with an attraction known as Flurries’ Mountain, which will lead to the centrepiece of Snow Abu Dhabi – the Enchanted Tree, a ‘majestic central icon that sprawls over the many snow play activities below’, the statement added.

Once open, the snow park will maintain an inside temperature of -2 degrees Celsius, with a snow depth of 500mm. The construction of the park is progressing in line with the overall development timetable, with the first trusses being installed in June of this year.
The attraction is part of a strategic partnership between Reem Mall and Majid Al Futtaim Ventures, the leisure, entertainment, fashion and business arm of Majid Al Futtaim. As part of the collaboration, Reem Mall will also host the next generation of concepts from VOX Cinemas and Magic Planet.
Reem Mall is being developed by Al Farwaniya Property Developments, a partnership between Agility, Agility affiliate United Projects for Aviation Services (UPAC), and National Real Estate Company (NREC).
Construction on Reem Mall began in late 2017 and is anticipated to be complete by late 2020. The retail, dining and leisure destination will offer 2 million sqft of leasable area comprising of 450 stores, including 100 dining options and a range of entertainment options.
