ENEC signs MoU with Spanish firm, Enusa
Enusa is Spanish state-owned nuclear fuel and environmental service provider
The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Enusa Industries Avanzadas, defining a framework for collaboration and exchange of information and expertise in the field of nuclear science.
The MoU was signed at ENEC’s HQ in Abu Dhabi by its CEO, Mohamed Al Hammadi and President of ENUSA, Jose Vicente Berlanga, at a ceremony attended by with senior officials from both companies.
Commenting on the agreement between both the companies, Al Hammadi said: “Enusa has an excellent track record and decades of experience in the nuclear energy sector and we look forward to collaborating with the organization in the coming months and years ahead.”
“We are committed to developing the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programme in line with the highest international standards of quality, safety, and security and working with various global organizations enables us to share insights and expertise,” he stated. “Such collaboration is important for the future development of the nuclear energy sector within the UAE and internationally.”
ENEC said in a statement that the memorandum comes within the framework of its strategy of working with international companies based in countries with established nuclear energy programmes. The MoU outlines potential areas of collaboration between the two parties, and highlights several key areas of special interest, including the nuclear fuel services and components for the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programme, it stated.
The MoU will also contribute to the long-term relationship between the UAE and Spain as well as illustrate ENEC’s commitment in engaging with the international nuclear energy industry to ensure that the highest standards of excellence are established in the continued development of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program.
