McDermott wins large EPCI contract from Saudi Aramco
Work begins immediately and the contract award will be reflected in McDermott’s first quarter 2019 backlog
McDermott International has been awarded a large contract for engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) services from Saudi Aramco in the Marjan field, offshore Saudi Arabia.
The scope of work includes the full suite of EPCI services for upgrading two existing platforms related to the installation of associated equipment for electrical submersible pumps (ESPs) and space for a future high integrity pressure protection system (HIPPS), subsea composite cable lay and topside cable tie-ins, the company said in a statement.
Linh Austin, McDermott’s senior vice president for Mena said: “This award is testament to Saudi Aramco’s confidence in McDermott’s ability to execute this complex type of project.”
“We have a long track record of executing similar scopes of work and believe that by working closely with our clients we can offer industry leading solutions which are suited to this evolving market segment,” he added.
The US-based company has said that the project is scheduled for execution from their Al Khobar office and Dammam fabrication facility, in line with its strategic focus to strengthen ‘In-Kingdom’ content. The project will begin work immediately and the contract award will be reflected in McDermott’s first quarter 2019 backlog, it added.
The statement also added that the company defines a large contract as between $50 million and $120 million worth expenditure.
