Contractors bid for ADAC project

Construction work involves infrastructure and civil works around the midfield terminal complex

Contractors have submitted their bids for the $272m Abu Dhabi airport midfield terminal project.

Contractors have submitted their bids to Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) for the estimated $272m contract to build the airside areas for the midfield terminal building at Abu Dhabi International airport.

A report by MEED said the airport operator had received bids last June from construction firms for a re-measurable contract, but it was then changed to a lump-sum contract and new prices were invited.

The construction work involves infrastructure and civil works around the midfield complex, including 300,000mof pavement concrete, 600,000 m2 of flexible pavement with taxiway connections to the existing and future taxiway systems, and the installation of utilities such as power, stormwater drainage and a jet fuel system.

The Midfield Terminal will be built between the two existing runways at Abu Dhabi International airport.

The total built-up area will be 630,000 m2 and it will include a multi-storey car park, 65 contact gates that will be able to accommodate the Airbus A380 aircraft, as well as house 27,000 m2 of retail and food and beverage outlets.
