KSA to invest billions in ?smart buildings?
Saudi Arabia is expected to spend SAR 150 billion (US $4 billion) on the construction of ?smart buildings? over the next eight years
Saudi Arabia is expected to spend SAR 150 billion (US $4 billion) on the construction of “smart buildings” over the next eight years, according to a report released ahead of the Saudi Build 2010 construction event.
Studies have revealed that cooling, heating and lighting techniques used in smart buildings can help save 30% on energy consumption, reduce 50% of carbon-dioxide emissions, cut down water consumption by 50% and minimise up to 90% of waste produced by buildings, said Saudi Build 2010 project manager Shahid Bhatti.
“Building owners are increasingly becoming interested in making their facilities more energy efficient to save money and decrease operating costs. In this regard, smart building solutions provide a convenient way to improve the energy efficiency and optimise the performance of
buildings,” he added.
Bhatti said that Saudi Build 2010, which is organised by Riyadh Exhibitions Company and will take place
from October 18-21, will exhibit an array of smartbased solutions to meet demand in the build sector.
