Bahrain’s Saada West completes first phase of development
Edamah says work on mixed-use project is progressing at a steady pace
Work on Saada West, a seafront property project being developed in the Muharraq area of Bahrain, is progressing at a steady pace, with reclamation now fully completed, the developer has said.
Endorsed by Bahrain’s Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the project is being developed by Bahrain Real Estate Investment (Edamah), the real estate arm of the Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), a report from BNA said.
Saada West is a mixed-use waterfront development with both retail and hospitality services. Located at the entrance to the old city, the project will house a promenade with family entertainment, harbourside dining and a modern marina, which will be able to host a range of boats, the developer stated.
Work on the project is being implemented in two phases, with phase one – reclamation works – having been completed. The second phase will involve the construction of seven buildings with a total of 45 retail and dining units, in addition to a multi-storey car park.
The expected completion date for the seafront property is in May 2019, with operations set to begin the following month.
“The contemporary development of Bahrain’s historic city, Muharraq, is designed to enhance regional culture tourism and family entertainment,” remarked Essam Khalaf, the Minister of Works, after inspecting the project site.
“I am very pleased to see how the area is progressing and look forward to the upcoming stage of building works and development,” he added, while touring the site along with Khalid Al Rumaihi, the chairman of Edamah.
Saada West aims to link residents and tourists with the country’s heritage, Edamah said, adding that the contemporary retail spaces will be linked with the city’s traditional souq, while the carparking facility will be built to accommodate up to 500 cars, in line with the requirements of local inhabitants and visitors.
“In line with the vision set by HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, the team in Edamah has been working very hard to ensure the area’s development is conducted smoothly,” remarked Al Rumaihi.
“The second phase in which contracting works are to take place is about to start and we expect to award a contractor for the project by May,” stated Al Rumaihi.
