UAE approves $326m in funds for infrastructure projects
Key hospital project in Fujairah receives $235m in funding
The UAE government has allocated $326 million for the completion of a number of infrastructure projects and urban development projects across the country, it has been announced.
According to a report by WAM, the state news agency, the approval was given by the Follow-Up Committee of the Initiatives of the UAE President at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Ahmed Juma Al Za’abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs.
One of the key projects approved is the Sheikh Khalifa Central Hospital in the northern emirate of Fujairah, which has been allocated $235.7 million. The hospital will have a capacity of up to 300 beds, and will provide 24-hour services to patients. It will consist of 11 specialised departments, outpatient clinics and a 32-bed emergency ward.
In addition, the hospital will have a three-storey rehabilitation centre housed in a separate building. There will be 673 parking spots available for the hospital as well.
Furthermore, the committee also approved funding for a number of infrastructure projects, including roadworks that will link the Sheikh Khalifa highway (from the Maliha passing, through to Madam, up to Al Shuwaib). These projects were valued at $87.93 million.
Funds worth a further $3.37 million were also approved by the committee to carry out internal roads and parking projects in the emirates of Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, the report added.
