Al Hassanian Contracting Company has been awarded the contract to execute and complete the marine works for the Bahrain Marina project, the Bahrain Marina Development Company (BMDC) has announced.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of the Social Insurance Organisation, Bahrain Marina Development Company is overseeing the development of the Bahrain Marina, a mixed-use development that includes a five-star hotel, with serviced apartments. Also included in the development are freehold apartments and waterfront villas, along with a shopping district and a family entertainment and education centre. A recreational waterfront space with F&B and retail outlets will also be developed.

The Bahrain Marina will also be home to a yacht club, which will have the capability to berth a number of boats and yachts of different sizes, a statement from Bahrain Marina said.

“Dubbed as an iconic world-class facility, Bahrain Marina will be positioned as the Kingdom’s prime lifestyle and leisure destination and a main tourism attraction with an aim of supporting the growth of the tourism sector. The project will also compliment the growth of the retail sector in Bahrain,” said the Chairman of Bahrain Marina, Abdulrahman Yusuf Bin Yusuf Fakhro.

“We are pleased with the progress made so far on the Bahrain Marina Project; further reiterating our commitment in developing a world-class facility. We are also pleased to appoint the most experienced marine company to drive forward next phase of the ambitious project,” he added.

The project aims to be completed by 2020, with the planned development built along Manama’s coastline.

“Our vision behind the Bahrain Marina project is to create a remarkable mixed-use development in the heart of the capital Manama that can attract local and foreign investments. We are committed in developing a waterfront destination that is modern and advanced and in accordance to the highest international standards,” added Yazan Haddad, Bahrain Marina CEO.

“Through this modern development, we aim to create a national landmark that will support overall economy of the Kingdom and create job opportunities for Bahrain.”
