Waldorf Astoria to launch first hotel in UAE by Q1 2013

Hotel development is the second in the Middle East for the luxury brand and the Ras Al Khaimah property will be built by the Al Hamra Group and managed by Hilton Worldwide

Waldorf Astoria, the luxury hotel brand made famous by its namesake in New York City, has announced plans to open its first UAE branch by the first quarter of 2013.

Situated in Ras Al Khaimah, the new hotel will be the second Waldorf Astoria property in the Middle East following the 2005 opening of the Qasr Al Sharq in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The new hotel is being developed by the Al Hamra Group and will be part of Al Hamra Village, a planned master development that covers more than 2.5 million m2 and includes 1.5km of beaches, 1,000 villas and townhouses, 2,500 residential apartments, two hotels, three resorts, an 18-hole golf course, clubhouse, a marina and a shopping mall.

As such, the new development will offer 349 luxury rooms, access to a 600m private beach, three outdoor swimming pools and a range of restaurants and lounges. It will be managed by Hilton Worldwide.

“Al Hamra Village brings a complete lifestyle experience to residents and visitors. We are excited about the Waldorf Astoria, Ras al Khaimah, opening and offering a range of lavish rooms, restaurants, spas and many such fulsome facilities,” said Benoy Kurien, general manager of Al Hamra Group.

“We have already seen a number of enquiries coming in from people all over the world. This is a positive sign as it shows the keen interest from tourists worldwide.”

Hilton has announced plans to open a second Waldorf Astoria in the UAE, which will be located on the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai and is scheduled to open in 2014.
