SNC-Lavalin wins Bahrain power works contract
Project involves underground transmissions work, distribution cabling networks and several 11kV substations
Global engineering and construction giant SNC-Lavalin has been awarded a contract for a power project by the Electricity Transmission Directorate (ETD) of the Electricity and Water Authority of Bahrain.
The works involve the design, installation and supervision of underground transmissions and distribution cabling networks, and the construction of several 11kV substations.
This project will support the Ministry of Works’ upgrades of the Sitra Causeway and several other key highways, avenues and minor roads spanning Bahrain.
SNC-Lavalin will design and supervise the diversions of several 220kV and 66kV power cables circuits, including pilot and fibre optic telecommunications and tele-control cabling.
“SNC-Lavalin is delighted to contribute to development of critical infrastructure upgrades and this contract builds on our previous consultancy work and rehabiliation projects awarded back in 2012,” said Karl Matalani, the company’s vice president for hydro and power delivery in the Middle East.
The project is scheduled to be completed by December 2017.
