Double win for Danube Buildmart

Company and personal recognition for chariman Rizwan Sajan

Danube Buildmart has won two categories at the Images Retail ME Awards 2011 for ‘most admired retailer’ in the home and office improvement category. The second was awarded founder and chairman Rizwan Sajan personally for ‘most admired retail professional of the year’.

The awards were held at the Maydan Hotel and attended by guest of honour, H E Mohamed Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz, Undersecretary, UAE Ministry of Economy.

“We are very honoured and humbled to be recognised in two categories for this year’s edition of the awards,” said Sajan.

“These two awards not only serve as an inspiration and tribute to our employees who have maintained strong commitment in keeping our customers satisfied but also reinforces our promise to provide world class high quality building materials and home interior products in the Middle East region,” he added.

The awards aim to recognise the top performing retailers and retail practices in the Middle East region and rewards excellence across retail categories. The event is positioned as the most prestigious event of its kind in the region’s retail calendar and helps set benchmarks and best practices that make the Middle East a vibrant retail destination.

Buildmart was recognised for its “creditworthy performance” last year and its move to introduce “strategic innovations and initiatives” that helped position the company as a leading retail institution for the Middle East, said the organisers.

The judging panel included Mohammad Alawi, CEO, Red Sea Markets Co; Peter Walichnowski, CEO, Majid Al Futtaim Properties; Alexander John Andarakis, founder and MD, Andarakis Advisory Services; Roy Higgs, CEO and partner in charge, Development Design Group; David Macadam, head of retail at Jones Lang LaSalle  MENA; Frederick John Douglas, director  of leasing, Aldar Properties; Davide G Padoa, CEO, Design International (DI); and Hussein Doughan, regional manager, Euromonitor International, MENA and Turkey.
