The Big Project and BGreen Awards 2011
Winners include DAMAC, Hyder and ADPC
The Big Project and BGreen Awards 2011 took place last night at Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa.
The ceremony was attended by 400 of the industry’s biggest names and Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Ali Al Nuaimi, a member of the ruling family of the Emirate of Ajman; infamously known as the “Green Sheikh”.
Awards were presented in recognition of achievements in both the construction and sustainability industries.
Among the winners were Dubai’s RTA for Dubai Metro Green Line; DAMAC for their track record of completing luxury developments and Hyder Consulting for water conservation initiatives.
Abu Dhabi Ports Company won two awards for the Khalifa Industrial Zone and Port, in recognition of their energy efficiency initiatives and outstanding development of the port.
Other winners included Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Arabtec Construction and heavy machinery dealers FAMCO.
“The ceremony was an incredible success thanks to the support of our in house team, key sponsors and expert judging panel,” said Liam Williams, associate publisher of The Big Project magazine and associate publisher and founder of BGreen magazine.

The awards were judged by Niall McLoughlin, senior vice president DAMAC Properties; Adel Mohamed Mokhtar, senior architectural engineer and member of the Green Building Committee, Dubai Municipality; Salah Al Mashad, mechanical engineer and Member of the Green Building Committee, Dubai Municipality; Thierry Paret, president, American Institute of Architecture; Gerard Couturier, chairman of BuildingSMART and branch director, Oger Abu Dhabi; Mohammed Al Rais, senior vice president and managing director of Middle East Projects, Hill International; and Mohamed Al Noori, director general, The Environmental Centre for Arab Towns.
