Project Qatar 2016 officially inaugurated

Project Qatar 2016, the 13th International Construction Technology and Building Materials Exhibition, was officially inaugurated by His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassim Al Thani, Minister of Economy and Commerce, during an Opening Ceremony held yesterday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), in presence of a large number of officials, decision makers and high-profile diplomatic figures, many of whom represented their national pavilions.

The exhibition which will be taking place this year from 9-12 May under the Auspices of HE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani, The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior will attract hundreds of exhibitors and will have 18 country pavilions as well as overall participation from 37 countries. Covering 30,000m² sqm of exhibition space, Project Qatar 2016 stretches across five vast, pillar-free halls as well an outside area for heavy machinery. The exhibition is estimating a large number of visitors expecting to cross the 35,000+ visitor mark by the end of the show.

In order to promote the education and commercial aspects of the construction industry, Project Qatar, in collaboration with the Qatar Chamber of Commerce, will host once again this year the Project Qatar Workshop Series. The first day of the workshops started yesterday with three sessions: “Sustainable Smart Cities” by Qatar Green Building Council – QGBC, “Project Analytics Training” by Excelledia, and “Modular Scheme” by the British Standards Institution Group Middle East WLL. The following three days of the workshop series will include a wide number of topics which will be discussed by large governmental and semi-governmental entities, such as Educare| Gherass.
Building on the success the event has managed to achieve over the years, the Project Qatar Business Intelligence Series Project Qatar 2016 will host again 6 specialized conferences throughout the year, including 2 conferences at same time as the show: The 3rd Annual LightingTech Qatar (9 – 10 May, 2016), The 2nd Annual Future BIM Implementation Qatar (11 – 12 May, 2016), The 1st Annual Smart Parking Qatar (18-19 April, 2016), The 3rd Annual Future Interiors Qatar (5 – 6 September, 2016), The 3rd Annual Future Landscape & Public Realm Qatar (24 – 25 October, 2016), The 3rd Annual Future Drainage Networks Qatar (5-6 December, 2016).
In the same context, and given the growing demand for construction materials and technologies, “Qatar Stone Tech 2016,” the 5th International Stone and Stone Technology Show, and “Heavy Max 2016,” the 13th International Exhibition for Heavy Machinery, will be held again this year concurrently with the exhibition.
Furthermore, IFP Qatar, in collaboration with the Canadian company B2B2GO, one of the top leaders of the B2B matchmaking domain, has launched a new and improved B2B matchmaking platform available for use during the exhibition. This interactive platform will allow visitors to register and meet exhibitors that match their demand and work profile.
In order to enhance their experience during and after the show, Project Qatar will provide its participants this year with an advanced mobile application that includes all features of the show, including the floor plan, the exhibitors’ list, the sponsors’ list, the visitors’ registration form, etc.
