Abu Dhabi Ports has started initial trial operations of the Maqta Gateway “community system”, which is set to enhance processing times and communication procedures.
The master developer and operator of the emirate’s ports and Khalifa Industrial Zone says the move follows the successful completion of stage one of the overall project development, according to UAE state news agency WAM.

Maqta Gateway, the first purpose built port community system (PCS) in the UAE, offers shipping lines, agents, customs agents, terminal operators and other government agencies a single point-of-access and real-time information across a wide range of services. It can be accessed via any online device.
“Maqta Gateway will play a prominent role in facilitating the growing import and export activities, positioning Abu Dhabi as a major business hub in the region,” said Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports.
Initial operations of Maqta Gateway commenced last month, WAM reported. Shipping agents and shipping lines, and operating vessels through Abu Dhabi Ports’ flagship Khalifa Port, may begin utilising the new system as part of the initial operational stage.
Maqta Gateway can be used for other key services designed to cater for container import and export operations. These include issuing delivery orders as well as loading and discharge lists.
