Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has been awarded a $71.6 million (AED263m) infrastructure contract by Abu Dhabi Ports for the Khalifa Industrial Zone (Kizad).

Operating as Leighton Contracting Abu Dhabi, HLG will be responsible for building a road network with associated traffic signals and signage; a sewerage and storm network with pumping stations; a potable water network; and a telecom network among others, the company announced in a statement.

Work on the project will begin this month, and is scheduled for completion in March 2017. It will be carried out on a 52 sq. km site, and the methodology used will involve extensive dewatering, excavation, pipe-laying and road construction works.

“This new award is a great achievement that proves the Group remains a preferred contractor for clients,” said José A. López-Monís, HLG CEO and Managing Director. “I congratulate all teams involved in securing this project with a key client such as Abu Dhabi Ports.”

HLG has previously been involved in the construction of different phases of Khalifa Port and Kizad in Abu Dhabi.
