Drake & Scull Engineering has scooped two mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) projects in Abu Dhabi and Kuwait for a combined value of AED96.1 million ($26.2m).
The first project award, worth AED55.5 million ($15.1m), is for an upcoming waterfront residential project in Abu Dhabi. Under the contract, DSE will carry out engineering detailing, procuring, installation, testing, commissioning, handover and maintenance of the MEP, heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, fire protection, building management, and sewerage, storm water and irrigation systems.
The second project award, worth AED40.5 million ($11m), will see DSE undertake MEP works on a new retail development in Kuwait’s capital. The scope of work includes supply, installation, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Work on both projects will begin soon, and handover is scheduled for 2017, DSE said in a statement.
“DSI continues to capitalize on its positive momentum in 2015 with the two project awards worth a combined AED 96.1 Million in value. The Abu Dhabi residential development is a reputable project and reinforces our historic association with high-end residential developments in the UAE,” said Ahmad Al Naser, managing director of DSE.
“We are also pleased to continue our project winning streak in Kuwait, which is a high potential market driven largely by new projects from the private sector and an increase in demand for residential, commercial and retail units.”
Some of the key engineering projects that DSE is currently undertaking in Abu Dhabi are the Louvre Museum, the Fairmont Hotel & Serviced Apartments, the Plaza View mixed-use development and the Danat Al Emarat Women and Children’s Hospital.
Ongoing projects in Kuwait include the Sheikh Saad Sports Complex, Sheikh Jaber Cultural Center, Souk Al Kuwait, and Al Sager Cardiac Clinic.
Last month, DSI reported a total revenue of AED2.39 billion and net profit of AED34 million for the first half of 2015. The company achieved a 2% year-on-year revenue growth in H1, with the engineering business contributing 60% of the group revenue.
