The UAE’s Majid Al Futtaim has announced the completion of its AED1 billion ($272m) redevelopment of the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, which is set to open on September 28.
The project, titled Evolution 2015, includes a 36,000sqm retail extension with 40 new shopping, dining and entertainment outlets. The new additions include 20 fashion brands, 12 restaurants, and a revamped 24-screen VOX Cinemas featuring the first IMAX with Laser screen in the Middle East, as well as two children’s cinemas.
Evolution 2015 is a multi-phased project, involving several enhancements and additions. The first phase was completed in 2014 with the unveiling of the AED 100 million ($27.2m) Fashion District. The second phase saw the addition of a new taxi rank located next to Ski Dubai, representing a total investment of AED 10 million. In addition, Mall of the Emirates increased its car park capacity by building a new parking deck with roof-top shade on Level 4, creating 1,300 new spots.
“By re-shaping Mall of the Emirates with Evolution 2015, we continue to evolve and enjoy a competitive edge,” said Michael Cesarz, the chief executive of Majid Al Futtaim Properties’ malls unit.
Majid Al Futtaim earlier this month opened the $75 million (AED275m) City Centre Me’aisem mall in Dubai’s International Media Production Zone, marking its sixth City Centre property in the Emirates and twelfth in the region.
