Lafarge and MEKA have been chosen as ready-mix concrete providers for the Doha Metro project, according to a company statement.
The Saudi Binladen Group, the main contractor, selected Lafarge as the concrete supplier for the 300km project, which features 100 stations. The project is to be built over two phases, the first of which is scheduled to open in 2019.
MEKA, a client of the Saudi Binladen Group and partner of Lafarge, presented to the Doha Metro project its renewed product – a stationary concrete batching plant – MEKA MB-180W (180 m³/h).
Upon receiving the contract, the concrete batching plant was installed and commissioned at the Lafarge’s worksite near the Al Rayyan highway, located right in the centre of the project.
Concrete plant manufacturer MEKA was established in 1987, with operations in four continents and more than 60 countries.
Lafarge specialises in the cement, aggregates and concrete industries, operating in 64 countries and employing 65,000 people.
