Al Shafar General Contracting (ASGC), the UAE-based contractor, says it has completed all structural construction work for The Onyx development on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road.

Located near The Greens and Emaar Business Park, The Onyx is a Class-A, three-tower mixed-use development consisting of two office blocks and one residential building, along with a four-star, 210-room boutique hotel and three-storey podium of restaurants and retail shops. The project will also accommodate 1,400 parking spaces.

ASGC was awarded the second milestone contract of $110 million by Ishraqah For Development, a joint venture between the Gulf business groups Al Zahran Group and Bin Mahfouz Group. It started construction on this phase of The Onyx project in July 2013.

The project is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2015, with apartments and offices already on sale.

“We are delighted to announce the completion of all structural construction work on the Onyx development,” said Bishoy Azmy, CEO of ASGC.

“As we continue to win high profile contracts such as the recent Union Museum and Bluewaters projects, we are also focusing on new high-growth sector opportunities within the oil and gas and healthcare sectors, which will support our ongoing growth momentum both within the UAE and across the region.”
