Oshkosh’s JLG buys UK access-equipment firm Power Towers

JLG Industries, part of Oshkosh, has purchased Power Towers, a UK-based firm specialising in the engineering and manufacturing of low-level access equipment.

The terms of the deal to acquire the Leicester-based manufacturer were not disclosed. Established in 2007, Power Towers currently offers seven lift models, both self-propelled and push-around, that are rated for indoor and, in some cases, outdoor use.

“This important acquisition strengthens our existing portfolio of low-level access lifts and demonstrates our commitment to the European market,” said Frank Nerenhausen, JLG Industries president. “The addition of Power Towers products and people allows JLG to become an even stronger partner to our customers.”

The acquired firm employs about 30 people, all of whom will be retained through the acquisition. “We are excited to be joining JLG,” said Brian King, managing director of Power Towers. “It gives Power Towers the opportunity to realise its manufacturing potential and sales potential via JLG’s network while staying true to our position as pioneers in the industry.”

According to Karel Huijser, JLG’s vice president and general manager – EMEA, the purchase will expand JLG’s low-level access portfolio, which currently includes push-around and self-propelled mast lifts and stock pickers, and the LiftPod line of personal portable lifts.

“JLG and Power Towers share a common culture of innovation, simplification, and ethical business practices. We look forward to sharing these products with our customers,” said Huijser.
