Mövenpick set to open fourth hotel in Jeddah by 2019
Hospitality firm reveals plans to open 300-room Mövenpick Hotel Heraa Jeddah, its fourth property in the Saudi city
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts plans to expand its presence in Saudi Arabia by opening its fourth property in the city of Jeddah, the hospitality firm said.
The 300-room Mövenpick Hotel Heraa Jeddah is slated to open in the first quarter of 2019 and will be located on Prince Sultan Road, in close proximity to high-profile developments like the Kingdom Tower and Jeddah Waterfront. It will bring the hotel chain’s offering in the Kingdom to a total of 14 properties.
“The hotel is just five minutes from Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport, which is currently undergoing a US$7.2 billion expansion to take its ultimate capacity to 80 million passengers annually. We will therefore be the first point of call for travellers stopping in Jeddah en-route to the two Holy Cities, Makkah and Madinah,” said Andreas Mattmüller, chief operating officer, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Middle East and Asia.

The upcoming hotel in Jeddah is one of five new properties in the pipeline for Mövenpick over the next four years, including two in Riyadh, one in Al Khobar and the 233-key Mövenpick Hotel City Star Jeddah.
According to a recent report by JLL, the Saudi cities of Riyadh and Jeddah are predicted to see 16,000 new hotel rooms by 2018.
Over half of these rooms will be part of new 5-star hotel developments, as international hotel brands look to establish a foothold in the Kingdom. Jeddah is expected to see 2,700 more rooms enter the market in 2015 alone, the report said.
