Middle East Electricity: FAMCO launches hybrid Himoinsa genset

New hybrid gensets use up to 40% less fuel compared with conventional units

FAMCO (Al-Futtaim Auto & Machinery Co.) has launched a new Himoinsa hybrid generator at the Middle East Electricity (MEE) show in Dubai. The unit is equipped with a variable speed Yanmar engine as well as a battery array, allowing the unit to be charged from renewable energy sources including solar or wind.

The generators are ideal for use on remote locations, since they use up to 40% less fuel compared with a conventional generator and need to be refuelled less frequently.

The variable speed engine can operate from 1200 to 3000 rpm, allowing it to run at low rpms when there is a low power requirement on the engine, saving fuel and prolonging its life. Tests have shown that the Himoinsa hybrid generators consume 20% less fuel when compared to other hybrid generators in the market.

Himoinsa’s power solution engineering team has developed a control unit with an integrated management system to monitor and protect the generator, battery, charging system and renewable energy connections.

With an engine running requirement of only eight hours per day, together with maintenance intervals of 1000 hours, the hybrid gensets can run effectively without maintenance for four months.

“Himoinsa is the world’s fastest growing power generator brand, and with the new hybrid generator we are proud to offer a power solution which is much needed in an energy conscious region,” said Paul Floyd, senior managing director at FAMCO.

“The hybrid generators add to a Himoinsa’s offering of power solutions which include generators and lighting towers. We anticipate a strong response for the hybrid generators, particularly from the telecom sector which relies very much on uninterrupted, efficient power supply in remote areas.”

FAMCO, the distributor for Himoinsa in UAE, KSA, and Qatar is a silver sponsor at MEE 2015, the region’s largest power supply exhibition.

In addition to the hybrid generator, FAMCO will also display Himoinsa gas powered generators, the ‘Power Cube’ – a 500 kVA generator with a footprint of 20 square meters, an extensive lighting tower range, and the standard diesel generator range from 3 kVA to 3000 kVA.

FAMCO is also the distributor for Yanmar generators which range from 2 kVA to 62 kVA, which are on show at a separate stand.

The show runs March 2-4 at the Dubai International Convention Centre. FAMCO’s stands are located in Sheikh Saeed Hall 1, stand numbers S1H10 and S1G10.
