The Italian genset manufacturer Pramac has renewed a generator-supply agreement with the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and management at the Losail International Circuit in Doha.

The company has supplied 44 units, which will be used to light MotoGP championship events that are held on the Qatar track. Due to the extremely warm conditions, since 2006 the stage has been raced during the night.

The 44 GSW diesel generators can generate 330kVA each, powered by Volvo Penta engines. The gensets are are protected by a soundproof enclosure with a noise level of 68 dB(A) at 7 metres. They are equipped with an automatic control panel integrating AC03 control unit, a GPRS modem for remote control and sand trap air filters for the desert conditions.

Combined they can generate around 11MW of power, enough to provide power to the 3,600 light fixtures that are distributed along the circuit, ensuring visibility for all the riders that will take part in the races.

Since 2004 the MotoGP championship, the highest level motorbike race category, has held a stage in Qatar on the Losail circuit.
