Dubai-based developer Nakheel has made progress on its Deira Islands Mall and Palm West Beach projects after it signed designed and engineering contracts worth $12.5 million with RSP Architects, Planners and Engineers.
Tenders for the construction of both projects are expected to be released before the end of 2014.
A 620,000sq.m. retail and entertainment hub will be developed at Deira Islands, the contract for which with RSP is worth $10.8 million. Deira Islands is Nakheel’s 15.3sq.km. waterfront city currently under construction in Dubai.
The second contract was awarded for the Palm West Beach development and is worth $1.6 million (AED6 million.) The project will be constructed along a 1.5KM-long stretch on the western trunk of Palm Jumeirah and is set to comprise of various retail and entertainment outlets.
Last week, Nakheel announced it had awarded a contract worth $3 6.70 million for the construction of its Nakheel Mall on Palm Jumeirah to two UAE based construction firms.
United Engineering Construction LLC and Actco General Contracting LLC, were jointly awarded the contract in May 2014, with the deal cemented at a signing ceremony held in July this year. Construction work on the project is expected to begin shortly.
