Labour costs fall 10.8% in Abu Dhabi

In a report released last week, the centre also found declines of 30% for the price of concrete and further reductions in roofing materials and cement.
The average cost of construction labour fell by 10.8% in 2010, compared to 2009 figures.
The decline amounted to 16.1% in January, with the largest fall seen in May at 21.6%. The price subsequently rebounded, rising 1.9% in December 2010.
In contrast, price increases of 25% for wire, 16% for glass, 13.2% for diesel and 10.2% for steel, were found.
Price data was collected from more than 70 sources, with the report analysing 195 items of construction materials, over 21 categories of commodities and services.
Those included represent “the most important materials used in the construction activity, including cement, aggregate (gravel), sand, wood, steel, concrete and cement blocks, among others,” according to SCAD.
