Mark Andrews will be the new MD of Laing O’Rourke’s Middle East operations

UK-based engineering firm Laing O’Rourke has appointed Mark Andrews as the new managing director (MD) for the group’s business in the Middle East, the company announced.

Andrews will cover operations in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. He will also be responsible for developing and driving the firm’s growth strategy in the region, focusing on Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the company said.

The executive will join Laing O’Rourke from Arabtec Holding, where he was Chief Operating Officer. Andrews has also worked for companies like Balfour Beatty and Pirelli in the past.

“Laing O’Rourke has a strong brand and reputation in the Middle East for delivering on its promises for customers, while focussing on the safety and welfare of its workforce. As the global economy emerges from recession, this is an exciting time to be part of this change, and I’m really looking forward to meeting the team and getting started,” Andrews said, commenting on his appointment.

“Mark has a proven track record of adding value to organisations through driving new sales growth alongside performance improvement,” said Paul Sheffield, Europe Hub Managing Director.

“His deep knowledge of the construction market in the Middle East…coupled with his customer focussed approach will prove invaluable as we target a growing number of opportunities in the region to deploy our unique business offering,” he added.
