Preliminary infrastructure work on the upcoming Dubai Parks and Resorts project is 35% complete, according to a company statement.
Civil works have also begun on the leisure and entertainment destination, and more than 50% of construction contracts have been procured.
“We have a great team that is overseeing the progress of this project and made significant headway in all construction areas. Dubai Parks and Resorts is one of the most anticipated developments in the region with a unique product offering,” said Paul La France, Chief Projects Officer at Dubai Parks and Resorts.
Over 2,500 personnel have been deployed on site, with the workforce expected to increase to 6,500 by the end of next year.
Nearly 45% of the utility services are complete, and 40% of the work on the power substation is complete, Dubai Parks and Resorts said. Progress has also been made on the district cooling facility.
Moreover, the developer has placed orders for more than 80% by value of the 42 theme park rides and secured 10 percent of the surrounding entertainment offerings.
The mega-project is slated for completion before the end of the third quarter of 2016. The destination is expected to attract 6.7 million visitors in 2017. Contractors and consultants for the Dubai Parks and Resorts project include Gensler, Forrec, Laing O’Rourke, ARCO General Contracting, Hill International, Samsung C&T and Cumming.
The development will house 73 attractions across 3 themed parks, along with a four star resort hotel and Riverpark – a complementary retail, dining and entertainment district that connects the three theme parks and hotel.
