New bridge in Sharjah as E311 road expansion progresses
Construction of the National Paints bridge in Sharjah along the E311 main road was affecting traffic in the area
A part of the Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) extension will open for operation soon.
The newly-constructed Fifth Industrial Interchange, the National Paints bridge in Sharjah, will be made available for traffic in the first week of February 2014, with work completion expected by March 2014.
“We are expecting a 100 per cent improvement in traffic movement once the expansion work completes,” said Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works and Chairman of National Transport Authority.
“The National Paints intersection had been the main reason in slowing down traffic, but with the new bridges built we have added two lanes on each direction this will definitely ease traffic movement.
“The bridge will play a big role in easing traffic between Dubai and Sharjah. This will definitely make a big difference,” Al Nuaimi added.
According to a report by Gulf News, work on the new bridge at Fourth Interchange is also headed for completion. Additional work on the E311 includes the addition of two lanes to the existing three in each direction, construction of a new drainage network for rainwater and the installation of streetlights.
